Project: HEADLINING Rotherham’s Regeneration
Working with energy and regeneration specialist ENGIE, Complete Utility Solutions has been awarded the new gas, water, and electric infrastructure to a new housing project in Rotherham.
The project involves the build of 237 new energy efficient homes which will transform the land at Whinney Hill and Chesterhill Avenue, in the Thrybergh area of Rotherham. The land, which has been provided by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council as a strategic regeneration site, has remained vacant for a number of years following the demolition of the former dwellings.
With strong support from surrounding Rotherham communities and local and national government, including funding from Homes England, the project has been highly anticipated and Complete Utility Solutions is excited to assist in developing much needed housing for our local communities.
The new project plans were submitted in January 2020, after discussions and agreements dissolved. Rotherham Council has teamed up with ENGIE, Sanctuary Homes, Wise Living and Great Places Housing, to produce the homes.
Working in line with Rotherham’s Housing Strategy, the homes built will be energy efficient, with a mixture of sizes, from flats, bungalows and four bedroom houses. To ensure optimum energy efficiency, each plot will feature energy efficient boilers, prominent insulations and tight structuring for air and heat loss. There will also be provisions for charging points for electric vehicles. The council predicts these homes will have lower energy bills and reduce carbon emissions in the area from these measures.
Costing £28m in total, Complete Utility Solutions’ responsibilities in the project includes installing gas, water and electric mains, services and meters along with installation of a new 500kva substation and installation of street lighting connections for the development.
The project is expected to complete within 2 years, and the Complete Utility Solutions team is looking forward to working with ENGIE again and other notable Rotherham businesses.
